A researcher from the Centre for Mathematical Sciences UMPSA, Dr Tay Chai Jian has secured a Kurita Overseas Research Grant from Kurita Water and Environment Foundation (KWEF) with a total fund of JPY 400,000.
A team from Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) participated in the Research & Innovative Technology Competition (i-RITEC2023) hosted by the Faculty of Engineering Technology at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn (UTHM) from September 20th to 25th, 2023. The team, led by Dr. Chuan Zun Liang from the Centre for Mathematical Sciences, included three members: Kueh Fuk Chen (3rd-year student from the Centre for Mathematical Sciences), Tham Ren Sheng (1st-year student from the Faculty of Industrial Management), and David Lau King Luen (2nd-year student from the Centre for Mathematical Sciences). They presented their project titled "AI-Enabled Energy Prediction: Unlocking Insights in Sparse Dataset Annual Consumption Predictions" in the fundamental category.
On the 22nd of September 2023, Pusat Sains Matematik (PSM) achieved another successful milestone by organizing the fifth Monthly Mathematical Colloquium (MMC) of the year. This gathering served as a platform for intellectual exchange and featured a knowledge-sharing session by one PhD student, who was under the supervision of Dr. Ku Muhammad Na’im bin Ku Khalif.
From August 26 until September 25, 2023, eleven teams from UMPSA participated in the MDIT x DOSM Datathon 2023. Specifically, there were ten teams from the BSD program and one team from the BPD program. The entrance fees were sponsored by the CoE for Artificial Intelligence & Data Science (Data Science Centre) at UMPSA. This prestigious national competition is held once every two years for students from IPTA and IPTS.
