Mastering Industrial Mathematics Globally: Transforming Dissertation with International Collaboration into Compelling Book Chapter

A team from Pusat Sains Matematik (PSM), comprising academician Dr. Chuan Zun Liang, alumna Ms. Tan Ee Hiae from the Master of Science in Industrial Mathematics program, and three undergraduate students – Mr. Abraham Lim Bing Sern, Mr. Tan Chek Cheng, and Mr. David Lau King Luen from the Bachelor of Applied in Data Analytics with Honours program - collaborated with international partner Dr. Nursultan Japashov from the University at Albany, United States of America (USA). They extended Ms. Tan Ee Hiae’s dissertation work into a book chapter titled “Empowering Industry 5.0: Nurturing STEM Tertiary Education and Careers through Additional Mathematics.” to be published by IGI Global.
The team’s motivation stemmed from a call for book chapters by Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Safaa N. Saud Al-Humairi from Management and Science University (MSU), who serves as the book’s editor. After submitting a proposal on December 20, 2023, which was approved within one day, they continued writing the full chapter. Following a few months of writing, submitting, and undergoing a double-blind review process, they received approval from the editor on April 4, 2024.
