Unlocking Statistical Insights: Global Classroom Collaboration with Universitas Islam Negeri Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau Indonesia Leaves a Lasting Impact
On May 8, 2024, a global classroom session was conducted via the Google Meet platform, organized collaboratively by the Department of Mathematics, Universitas Islam Negeri Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau Indonesia, and Pusat Sains Matematik (PSM), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah. This session focused on the mathematics services course DUM2413 Statistics & Probability, instructed by one of the senior lecturers, Dr. Chuan Zun Liang. Dr. Chuan invited Dr. Rado Yendra, a senior lecturer specializing in statistics, to deliver a lecture on discrete probability distributions, specifically Binomial and Geometric Distributions. The audience comprised diploma students from the Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Technology (FTKMA) and Faculty of Computing (FK) enrolled in this course for the current semester.
During the lecture, Dr. Rado Yendra introduced the characteristics of each statistical distribution and demonstrated the derivation of their expected values and variance. These concepts aligned with the statistical theory covered in this course and complemented mathematical-related concepts taught in other service courses. Dr. Rado Yendra also provided practical applications for each distribution, offering examples from international reference books. PSM extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. Rado Yendra for his valuable collaboration in the field of statistics and looks forward to future collaborations. PSM wishes that students gain new knowledge from this global classroom lecture.
