Workshop on the Improvement of Work Based Learning (WBL) Procedures and Assessment Guidelines with Academic Tutors

On 22 June 2026, the Centre for Mathematical Sciences (Pusat Sains Matematik, PSM), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) organised the Workshop on the Improvement of Work Based Learning (WBL) Procedures and Assessment Guidelines with Academic Tutors.

The workshop was conducted for the Bachelor of Applied Science in Data Analytics with Honours programme, which is implemented under the 2u2i academic mode through the Work Based Learning (WBL) approach. Through this mode, students undergo academic learning at UMPSA before continuing their learning experience through industrial placement. The workshop focused on reviewing and improving the implementation procedures of WBL, particularly in relation to the roles and responsibilities of Academic Tutors and Industry Coaches. It also aimed to ensure that the monitoring, guidance, assessment, and reporting processes for WBL students are carried out in a clearer, more systematic, and standardised manner.

Among the main activities conducted during the workshop were the presentation of audit findings and implementation issues, review of WBL procedures, and discussion on follow-up actions. The workshop involved all Academic Tutors as well as representatives from the WBL, Data Science Project, and Industrial Training committees. This workshop is expected to further strengthen the quality of WBL implementation for the Data Analytics programme and ensure that the procedures and assessment guidelines remain relevant, practical, and aligned with both academic and industry requirements.

Congratulations to all participants and committee members involved in the successful implementation of this workshop. May this initiative continue to support the enhancement of WBL practices and improve the learning experience of students in the industry.
