UMPSA and MRSM Kuala Berang Empower Form 3 Students through ProMath Mathematics Enhancement Programme
Kuala Berang, TERENGGANU, 10–11 October 2025 – The Program Peningkatan Matematik (ProMath), jointly organized by the Centre for Mathematical Sciences (PSM), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), and Maktab Rendah Sains MARA (MRSM) Kuala Berang, was successfully held over two days at Dewan Tok Ku Paloh, MRSM Kuala Berang.

The programme aimed to strengthen Form 3 students’ understanding of mathematical concepts through engaging and interactive learning approaches while cultivating a deeper interest in STEM among rural students.
Key activities included ice-breaking sessions, Fun Maths challenges, a workshop on “Data Science in Everyday Life,” and intensive learning slots covering Algebra, Numbers and Operations, Geometry, Discrete Mathematics, and Statistics and Probability. Students were also introduced to problems from the Malaysian Mathematical Olympiad (OMK). Recreational and team-building activities, including a Fun Maths competition and evening reflections, further fostered collaboration and communication among participants.

The programme was led by Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Noryanti Muhammad, together with PSM lecturers Dr. Norhafizah Md Sarif, Dr. Rahimah Jusoh @ Awang, Dr. Nadirah Mohd Nasir, Dr. Wan Nur Syahidah Wan Yusoff, and Dr. Sahimel Azwal Sulaiman. The event was officiated by Ms. Rahmatul Aida Ab Rahman, Principal of MRSM Kuala Berang. Also present were Assoc. According to Associate Prof. Ts. Dr. Noryanti, the initiative not only enhanced students’ problem-solving abilities but also exposed them to real-world applications of data and analytics.
“We aim to build students’ confidence and analytical thinking so they see Mathematics as a living and relevant field,” she said.
The closing ceremony, held on 11 October 2025, included a token of appreciation exchange between UMPSA and MRSM Kuala Berang. The programme is expected to continue as an annual initiative to strengthen Mathematics education at the secondary level.
