Two-Day Workshop on R Programming for Data Analysis

A two-day workshop titled “R Programming for Data Analysis” was successfully conducted on 17–18 September 2025, organised by the Postgraduate Association of Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA). The workshop was facilitated by Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Noryanti Muhammad and Associate Professor Dr. Roslinazairimah Zakaria from the Centre of Mathematical Sciences, who were honoured to serve as the speakers.

Designed as a hands-on session, the workshop guided participants through essential aspects of R programming. Students learned how to install the R software, explored fundamental data types and structures including vectors, matrices, and data frames, and applied R for basic descriptive data analysis, both numerically and graphically. In addition, the workshop provided opportunities to interpret outputs from basic statistical analyses, enhancing participants’ understanding of data-driven decision-making. The workshop attracted 25 registered participants from diverse academic backgrounds, including both science and non-science fields, representing postgraduate students at the Master’s and PhD levels. The interactive approach and practical exercises enriched participants’ skills and equipped them with valuable tools for research and academic pursuits.
