Python Programming Workshop for Form 3 Basic Computer Science Students

The Centre for Mathematical Sciences (CSM), UMPSA, successfully organized the Python Programming Workshop for Form 3 Basic Computer Science (ASK) students at the Al Khawarizmi Laboratory and School Resource Centre (PSS), SMK Sungai Isap, on 8 September 2026 (Tuesday), from 8.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. A total of 50 Form 3 ASK students, comprising Classes 3 KAA and 3 BESTARI, took part in the program.

The workshop was conducted in two sessions, namely 8.00 a.m. to 9.40 a.m. and 10.00 a.m. to 11.40 a.m., with a short break in between. Class 3 KAA held its session at the PSS while Class 3 BESTARI was based at the Computer Laboratory. Throughout the workshop, students were introduced to the fundamentals of Python programming before being guided to develop creative digital applications and games.

The sessions placed strong emphasis on nurturing logical thinking, problem-solving and teamwork skills among participants, while cultivating a deeper interest in the field of Computer Science. The program concluded with a closing ceremony and the presentation of souvenirs.

Overall, the program successfully achieved its intended objectives, namely providing students with basic exposure to Python programming, enhancing their creativity, and building logical thinking and teamwork skills, while sparking greater interest in Computer Science. This program serves as a valuable platform in nurturing continuous interest among Form 3 students of SMK Sungai Isap towards Computer Science and information technology, while further strengthening PSM UMPSA's role in supporting education at the school level.
