PSM UMPSA in collaboration with UiTM Cawangan Pahang Kampus Jengka and PPD Maran conducted MATEMADESA 2024: MEKARMATIK

On August 17-18, 2024, PSM UMPSA, in collaboration with UiTM Cawangan Pahang Kampus Jengka and PPD Maran,successfully organized the MATEMADESA 2024: MEKARMATIK program. The event aligned with UMPSA's "Profesor Turun Padang" initiative.

Eighteen schools participated, including SMK Cedung Jaya, SMK Jengka 12, SMK (LKTP) Jengka 21, SMK Jengka Pusat, SMK (LKTP) Jengka 6, and SMA Al-Mahmudi. Each school sent six students, forming twelve mixed groups.
 
A variety of engaging activities were planned to cultivate a love for mathematics. These included icebreakers, the "Indahnya Matematik" session highlighting real-life applications of mathematics, and the outdoor "Sportsmatik" challenge involving mathematical problem-solving. A motivational talk, "Oh-My-Maths!: No More Nightmares," was delivered by Madam Nazihah Ismail, a lecturer from College of Computing, Informatics & Mathematics, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Pahang Branch, Jengka Campus to address math anxiety.

The second day commenced with a sharing session by top SPM 2023 students from Maran district, Muhammad Nazrul Iman bin Asli. Participants then explored data visualization techniques through a hands-on activity. The program culminated with a "Cullinary Math, Science, and Ratios" session where students baked cheese tarts while applying mathematical concepts.

The event concluded with an official closing ceremony attended by Mr Mohamed Bakri Abdul Malek, the Deputy Officer PPD Maran, Professor Dr Wan Mohd Nazri WAN Abdul Rahman, Deputy Rector of Research and Industrial Linkages Exercising the Functions of the Rector UiTM Pahang Branch, and Dr Zulkhibri Ismail @ Mustofa, the Deputy Dean (Research and Postgraduate Studies) of PSM UMPSA. We aim to inspire students to pursue mathematics and science subjects in their future studies.
