PSM’s Muharram 1448H Religious Talk Strengthens the Practice of Taqwa Among the UMPSA Community
Gambang, 10 July 2026 – The Centre for Mathematical Sciences (PSM) at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) successfully organized an online *Tazkirah* (religious talk) session for the month of Muharram 1448H via Microsoft Teams on Friday, 10 July 2026, in conjunction with the arrival of the Hijrah year 1448H. This program is one of PSM’s initiatives to foster an appreciation of Islamic values and to shape the character of the university community, ensuring a balance between academic, professional, and spiritual aspects.
Centered on the theme "Building Personal Excellence through *Taqwa* (God-consciousness)," the session was delivered by Ustaz Dr. Mohamad Hilmi bin Mat Said from the Centre for Human Sciences. He emphasized that *taqwa* is the fundamental basis for molding individuals who possess integrity and discipline, and who are capable of facing life’s and career challenges with wisdom.

The program commenced with the recitation of *Ummul Kitab* (Al-Fatihah) and an opening prayer, followed by welcoming remarks from the Dean of PSM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Sham Mohamad, before proceeding to the talk itself. Participants also had the opportunity to interact directly with the speaker during a Q&A and knowledge-sharing session, which took place in a relaxed yet deeply meaningful atmosphere.
The response was highly encouraging, with the program successfully gathering 121 participants comprising academic staff, administrative staff, and the wider UMPSA community. This impressive turnout reflects the university community's commitment to actively participating in character and spiritual development programs.

It is hoped that this program will strengthen noble values, raise awareness regarding the importance of *taqwa* in daily life, and instill the spirit of *Hijrah* (positive transformation) towards excellence for the individual, the organization, and the *Ummah* (community).
The Centre for Mathematical Sciences extends its deepest appreciation to the speaker, the organizing committee, and all participants who contributed to the success of this program. May the insights shared serve as a guide and inspiration for the entire UMPSA community to embrace the spirit of Awal Muharram and continue striving for excellence grounded in Islamic values.
