PSM@KMPh Strengthens University Academic Exposure for Students at Kolej Matrikulasi Pahang
The PSM@KMPh programme was successfully held on 13 December 2025 at Kolej Matrikulasi Pahang (KMPh), featuring a full day of academic content, knowledge sharing, and interactive activities to provide early exposure to students on the fields of mathematical and computational sciences at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA).
The programme commenced with a recitation of doa and the singing of Negaraku, followed by welcoming remarks from the Deputy Director of KMPh and an address by the Deputy Dean (Academic & International) of the Centre for Mathematical Sciences (PSM), UMPSA. A knowledge-sharing session titled “Artificial Intelligence Technology in Contemporary Teaching and Learning” was delivered by Ts. Aziman bin Abdullah, a lecturer from the Faculty of Computing, UMPSA, highlighting the role and potential of AI technologies in modern education.

Participants also received a briefing on PSM undergraduate programmes, covering entry requirements and academic pathways, including direct entry and TVET routes. The session was delivered by the Head of the BSD Programme, Dr Adam Shariff bin Adli Aminuddin.
The afternoon session featured a variety of activities and exhibitions organised by the PSM@KMPh committee, including hands-on mathematical games, mini final-year project exhibitions, research showcases, the Sudoku Leaderboard Challenge, as well as activities in game development, digital imaging, Lego robotics, and easy coding.

The programme was coordinated by two PSM lecturers, Dr Nor Izzati and Ms Zahirah, with the support of nine Mathelites student members, a student club under PSM. The strong commitment and collaboration of the organising committee ensured the smooth execution of the programme and active participation from attendees.
Overall, the PSM@KMPh programme achieved a positive impact by enhancing students’ awareness of undergraduate academic pathways, fostering interest in mathematical and computational sciences, and promoting experiential learning through interactive activities. It is hoped that similar programmes will continue in the future as a platform to strengthen academic linkages between UMPSA and pre-university institutions.
