PSM Conducts Work-Based Learning Benchmarking Session for FTKKP
The Centre for Mathematical Sciences (PSM) was recently invited to a Benchmarking Sharing Session on Work-Based Learning (WBL), hosted by the Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering Technology (FTKKP).
Initiated by FTKKP’s Department of Chemical Engineering Technology, the session aimed to explore and benchmark the WBL framework implemented by PSM’s Bachelor of Applied Science in Data Analytics (BSD) programme. The discussion primarily focused on optimising curriculum structure, class delivery, and assessment methods for industry-integrated education.
The session fostered a productive exchange of ideas between key representatives from both faculties:
- Representing PSM: Dr. Adam Shariff bin Adli Aminuddin (Head of Department, Data Analytics), Dr. Nur Haizum binti Abd Rahman, and Dr. Nor Azuana binti Ramli.
- Representing FTKKP (Hosts): Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Ruwaida Binti Abdul Rasid (Head Department of Chemical Engineering Technology), Ts. Dr. Norasyikin Bte Ismail, Ts. Dr. Auni Hamimi Binti Idris, and Ts. Dr. Noor Ida Amalina Binti Ahamad Nordin.

The discussion covered essential aspects of WBL implementation, including the mechanisms for monitoring students at the workplace, documentation of learning evidence, and performance- and project-based assessment strategies. Besides structural frameworks, the session offered a valuable platform to exchange practical insights on overcoming implementation challenges and promoting continuous quality improvement within academic programmes. The Centre for Mathematical Sciences extends its sincere appreciation to FTKKP for the invitation. PSM looks forward to continued collaboration in strengthening industry-driven education.
