Mathelites to the world II – Japan
23 – 30 September 2025, the Mathelites Club of the Centre for Mathematical Sciences successfully organised a non-credited mobility program to Osaka, Japan. The program was joined by 29 students from the Bachelor of Applied Science in Data Analytics programme and accompanied by four lecturers: Dr. Mohd Khairul Bazli Mohd Aziz (Club Advisor), Dr. Norhafizah Md Sarif (Deputy Dean of Academic and International), Associate Professor Dr. Roslinazairimah Zakaria, and Dr. Nor Azuana Ramli.
We arrived in Osaka, Japan, at 10:00 AM on 24 September 2025, and checked in at the homestay. In the evening, we explored Osaka city and went sightseeing by train. The train system in Japan is well established, interconnected across most cities, and very easy to access.

On the following day (25 September), we had a campus tour at Kansai University, organised by the Kansai University International Office. Kansai University, established in 1922, has a history of more than 100 years. In the afternoon, we visited Osaka Castle Park.
On 26 September, we carried out a community service activity at the Osaka Islamic Centre, where we helped clean the premises inside and outside in preparation for Friday prayers. In the afternoon, we visited MOBIO (Monodzukuri Business Information Center Osaka), a research and support centre for SMEs managed by the Osaka Prefectural Government. We were briefed by Mr. Murai on MOBIO’s role in supporting SMEs and boosting the economy.

On 27 September, we visited the bamboo forest in Arashiyama, followed by Kiyomizu, where we wore kimono and yukata while strolling through a traditional Japanese village, experiencing local delicacies and cultural products.
The next day (28 September), we went to Nara Park, which covers 660 hectares and is renowned for its free-roaming deer and world-famous temples.

On the last day (29 September) of the program, we visited Universal Studios Japan (USJ). USJ offers world-class entertainment through authentic attractions and shows based not only on Hollywood blockbusters but also on popular entertainment brands, along with seasonal events. Highlights include The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, The Flying Dinosaur, Minion Park, Despicable Me Minion Mayhem Ride, and Super Nintendo World.
Through this program, we gained a colourful and memorable experience of Japan’s rich culture, authentic cuisine, natural beauty, and advanced technologies.
