On 4 October 2025, the “Empowering Math Instruction: Strategies, Tools, and Activities to Boost Students’ Success” workshop gathered educators at International Islamic School Malaysia (IISM), Kuantan, for a full-day, hands-on program focused on practical, student-centred teaching that elevates participation, critical thinking, and communication in mathematics.

The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Amirul Aizad Ahmad Fuad, Dr. Nor Azuana Ramli, and Dr. Nur Haizum Abd Rahman from the Centre of Mathematical Sciences, who were honoured to serve as the speakers. Participants explored student-centred fundamentals, adaptable active-learning techniques, classroom simulations, and the application of Bloom’s Taxonomy and the How People Learn (HPL) framework, supported by ready-to-use activities and templates for immediate implementation. The workshop translated research-backed active learning into classroom-ready routines and emphasised evidence that such approaches improve understanding, retention, and motivation across diverse contexts. Thus, offering concrete strategies to boost engagement from day one.

The workshop attracted 19 registered participants representing a wide range of institutions and roles, including Islamic primary schools (Sekolah Rendah Islam Indera Mahkota, Sekolah Rendah Islam Al-Amin Paya Besar, Sekolah Rendah Islam Ibnu Abbas), international schools (International School of Kuantan, International Islamic School Malaysia Kuantan), a secondary school (Sekolah Menengah Sains Islam Indera Mahkota), a tuition centre (Pusat Tuisyen Mateen Genius), and Angsana Academy.
