Chinese New Year Cultural Program, AST

The spirit of unity and cultural appreciation came alive as Confucius Institute, UMPSA together with Foundation of Sciences and Technology (AST), PSM hosted a vibrant Chinese New Year Cultural Programme on 21st January 2025 at Block W, UMPSA, Gambang. The event, organized to celebrate the rich traditions of the Chinese New Year, saw enthusiastic participation from AST students, PSM staff, and staff from Confucius Institute as well.

The celebration featured an array of exciting activities, including calligraphy, paper cutting, and ink painting. One of the highlights of the programme was a cultural fashion where students donned traditional Chinese attire, such as Hanfu, symbolizing elegance and heritage. The event also included an experience preparing traditional delicacies like dumplings giving attendees a taste of authentic Chinese cuisine.

The programme also incorporated interactive sessions where students learned about the customs and significance of Chinese New Year, including the zodiac animals, and the importance of mandarin and red as a color of luck and joy.

Such initiatives reflect their commitment to fostering multicultural understanding and respect. The Chinese New Year Cultural Programme was not just a celebration of tradition but a testament to the vibrant harmony and inclusivity of the campus community.
