Centre for Mathematical Sciences Hosted International Global Classroom on Statistical Modelling and Synthetic Data

Centre for Mathematical Sciences (PSM), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) hosted an international Global Classroom session titled “Statistical Modelling and Simulation: Introduction to Synthetic Data Generation” on 5 January 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., via Microsoft Teams.

The academic session featured Prof. Dr. Aleta Caras Fabregas, Chief of the Center for Computing and Information Sciences Research at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, as the invited international speaker. Prof. Dr. Aleta shared her expertise in computing, information sciences, and data-driven research, bringing valuable global perspectives to the session.

The session was conducted under the guidance of Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Noryanti Muhammad from the Centre for Mathematical Sciences, UMPSA, who served as the instructor and coordinator for this Global Classroom initiative for the course Statistical Modelling and Simulation (BSD3443).

The Global Classroom introduced participants to the fundamental concepts of synthetic data generation, a rapidly growing area in statistical modelling, simulation, data privacy, and analytics research. Synthetic data was highlighted as an essential tool for enabling data-driven innovation while addressing challenges related to confidentiality, limited data access, and ethical data use.

The programme was open to all students and academic staff, providing an excellent opportunity to engage with international expertise, enhance analytical knowledge, and strengthen global academic collaboration.

PSM welcomed all participants to this enriching Global Classroom experience and benefited from the insights shared by an international expert in the field.
