On 9 December 2024, the Centre for Mathematical Sciences organised an industry academic visit to National Water Research Institute of Malaysia (NAHRIM) under the Statistical Modelling and Simulation Course (BSD3443) to enhance the understanding of third year Bachelor of Science in Applied Data Analytics with Honours students, regarding the teaching and learning of this course. This industry academic visit was led by Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Noryanti Muhammad, as Course Coordinator with 61 students. The visit also been participated by other lecturers from our centre and Faculty of Industrial & Sciences (FIST).
This industrial academic visit is aimed to delve the students into the practical applications of their skills during an academic-industrial visit to NAHRIM. This unique initiative also aimed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world applications, providing students with a rare opportunity to witness data analytics in action within the dynamic setting of a leading water research.
It is hoped that the students could apply their analytical skills to the vast datasets generated by the water's operations which are from raindrop, river and groundwater, offering insights into optimizing water processes, resource management, and sustainability practices.
