PSM SULAM PROGRAMME “The Power of Data Science” Engages Future Data Enthusiasts at SEMSAS

16 January 2025 – The PSM SULAM PROGRAMME “The Power of Data Science” was successfully held at Sekolah Menengah Sains Sultan Ahmad Shah (SEMSAS), Kuantan, on 16 January 2025. This engaging initiative, part of the Introduction to Data Science (BSD1313) course under the Bachelor of Applied Science in Data Analytics with Honours program, showcased an inspiring collaboration between university students and high school learners.
The program, which ran from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm, brought together 52 university students and four distinguished lecturers from the BSD program, including Dr. Mohd Khairul Bazli Mohd Aziz, the course lecturer; Dr. Roslinazairimah Zakaria; Dr. Ku Muhammad Na'im Ku Khalif; and Dr. Adam Sharif Adli Aminuddin, Head of Programme of Data Analytics. They were joined by 133 enthusiastic SEMSAS students and three teachers, namely Cikgu Amiruddin, Cikgu Norehan, and Cikgu Asyikin.
The core activities of the program revolved around raising awareness and interest in data science among high school students. The BSD students shared their knowledge through informative brochures and interactive games, fostering a fun yet educational environment. The hands-on activities not only highlighted the potential of data science as a field but also demonstrated its relevance and impact in everyday life.
Dr. Adam Sharif Adli Aminuddin commended the program, stating, “This event underscores the importance of community engagement in education. It not only equips our BSD students with communication and leadership skills but also inspires young minds to explore the exciting field of data science.” Students and teachers from SEMSAS expressed their enthusiasm and appreciation for the initiative. Cikgu Amiruddin, a teacher at SEMSAS, remarked, “This program has opened new horizons for our students, exposing them to the possibilities that data science offers in solving real-world problems.”
The PROGRAM SULAM “The Power of Data Science” exemplifies the spirit of collaboration and knowledge-sharing, aiming to nurture a future generation of data-savvy individuals. This impactful event left participants inspired and equipped to embrace data-driven opportunities in their educational and professional journeys.
