Outbound Mobility Program-2026 “Ast Across Nations”, Foundation in Science and Technology 2025/2026
SURABAYA, INDONESIA — A dynamic international academic and cultural program was officially held on 21st until 27th June 2026 at the Department of Mathematics, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), bringing together students and faculty members from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA). The program integrates an academic lecture series, collaborative research discussions, community service, and cultural exchanges.
At the beginning of the itinerary, the program focused on orientation sessions, campus tours, and student presentations aimed at sharing the culture and campus life at ITS. Following the formal opening ceremony, participants were treated to a city sightseeing tour around Surabaya to experience the local heritage.
The core of this program features a comprehensive lecture series delivered by faculty members from all participating institutions based on their respective areas of expertise. The lecture series was presented by:
· Dr. mont. Kistosil Fahim (ITS). Topic: Max-Plus Algebra and the Application,
· Dr. Muhammad Luthfi Shahab (ITS). Topic: Optimization and Its Application,
· Dr. Ahmad Qushairi Mohamad (UTM). Topic: The Power of Differentiation: Modeling Change in Science and Engineering,
· Dr. Mohammad Izzat Emir Zulkifly (UTM). Topic: Beyond Yes and No: An Introduction to Fuzzy Logic and Its Everyday Applications,
· Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman Mohd Kasim (UMPSA). Topic: Think Like a Researcher: Solving Real-World Problems, and
· Dr. Farahanim Misni (UMPSA). Topic: Statistical Data Analysis with Application.
All of these topics are accompanied by mini projects that must be solved and presented by the students.
Beyond the lecture halls, the program serves as a critical node for institutional alignment. Faculty members from ITS, UTM, and UMPSA engaged in academic and research collaboration meetings to map out future joint projects while concurrently viewing the Final Project Poster Exhibition organized by the ITS Department of Mathematics. The program also offers students the opportunity to engage in experiential outdoor activities, such as playing several traditional Indonesian games.
Throughout the program, students worked intensively in groups. The highlight of the event commenced with a project presentation session evaluated fairly by an academic panel. The program concluded with a vibrant cultural exchange showcasing student performances such as singing, acting, and dancing, followed by the award presentation and the official closing ceremony.
