External Examiner Assessment Review Workshop for Bachelor of Applied Science in Data Analytics with Honours Programme Strengthens Assessment Quality and Curriculum Relevance
The Centre for Mathematical Sciences (PSM), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) successfully organised the External Examiner Assessment Review Workshop, Bengkel Semakan Penilaian oleh Penilai Luar, for the Bachelor of Applied Science in Data Analytics with Honours (MQA/FA 12425). The workshop, held on 19th August 2025 at the Mathematics Support Centre, aimed to strengthen the quality, relevance, and alignment of assessments for students in both Industry (2u2i) and Coursework modes. A total of 11 Data Analytics academic staff, supported by administrators, attended the session.
The distinguished External Examiner, Associate Professor Dr. Chang Yun Fah from Taylor’s University, provided detailed feedback on 35 assessments, which include final examinations, tests, written tests, laboratory tests, project proposals, and project reports for two academic semesters (Semester I & II, Session 2024/2025). The review encompassed key courses such as Machine Learning, Time Series Analysis, Multivariate Data Analysis, Storytelling and Data Visualization, Econometrics, Forensic Data Analysis, and Deep Learning, alongside core mathematics and programming subjects. This initiative is in line with the requirement for external reviews to ensure that assessment quality, programme delivery, and learning outcomes remain aligned with national standards and evolving industry expectations.
PSM is committed to continuously enhancing its curriculum and assessment practices to uphold rigorous academic standards while remaining responsive to industry needs. The outcomes of this workshop will contribute directly to future accreditation processes and further strengthen UMPSA’s standing as a leading technological university. This initiative underscores PSM’s dedication to quality assurance, ensuring that Data Analytics graduates are equipped not only to face industry challenges but also to excel in academic and professional pursuits.
