Eureka X of PSM UMPSA Wins Second Place at Horizon Baharu KIK UA 2026
The Centre for Mathematical Sciences (PSM), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), achieved another notable milestone when its innovation team, Eureka X, won Second Place in the Social Innovation (Improvement) category at the 18th Horizon Baharu Innovative and Creative Group (KIK) Convention for Malaysian Public Universities 2026.
The three day convention was held from 4 to 6 August 2026 at Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) and brought together innovation teams from public universities across Malaysia. The event provided a platform for participating teams to showcase innovative solutions that address organisational, educational, social and community needs.
Representing UMPSA, Eureka X presented Math Honeycomb, an innovative mathematical formula folding concept based on a hexagonal structure. The innovation was developed to provide a more systematic, compact and engaging way of organising and presenting mathematical formulas.
The use of the hexagonal form gives Math Honeycomb a distinctive structure that supports efficient use of space while maintaining the clarity and accessibility of mathematical information. The innovation also introduces a creative approach to mathematics learning by combining mathematical content with a practical and interactive folding concept.
The achievement of Second Place in the Social Innovation (Improvement) category is a significant recognition of the potential of Math Honeycomb as an innovative educational tool. It also demonstrates the ability of mathematical knowledge and creativity to generate practical solutions with potential social and educational impact.
The success further highlights the role of PSM UMPSA in promoting innovation beyond conventional mathematical teaching and research. It reflects the Centre's commitment to translating mathematical expertise into meaningful innovations that can benefit students, educators and the wider community.
