PSM Data Analytics students won first place in UMPSA Altair AI Studio Challenge
On 7 May 2026, a team of students from the Centre for Mathematical Sciences (PSM), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), won first place in the UMPSA Altair AI Studio Challenge. The prize-giving ceremony was held at the CAIDaS Lab, Block Z, UMPSA Gambang, to celebrate the innovative achievements of the participants.
The competition, organised by Centre for Artificial Intelligence & Data Science (CAIDaS) in collaboration with Altair, and ORS Technologies, required participants to solve real-world problems using the Altair AI Studio platform. The challenge focused on "No-Code" AI solutions, allowing students to build complex data workflows visually.


The winning project, titled "Predicting Graduate Underemployment Risk in Malaysia," was developed by Mok Ker Qin, Wong Jia Ying, and Chan Wan Wen. The team was mentored by Dr. Siti Zanariah Satari. Their project utilised data-driven insights to address the critical issue of graduate underemployment, showcasing their ability to apply data analytics to socio-economic challenges.
The team was rewarded with RM700 cash and RM2,000 in CAIDaS training credits. The event was also attended by respective advisors and lecturers who provided mentorship throughout the competition.
Participation in such industry-linked competitions provides students with valuable opportunities to enhance their technical skills and expand their professional networks.
