Axiata Digital Leadership Program for Girls 2024

On May 3, 2024, two second-year female students of the Bachelor of Applied Science in Data Analytics with Honours, Nur Atieka Rafiekah Binti Razak (SD22003) and Nur Nabila Binti Abd Rahman (SD22032) were given the opportunity to represent Universiti Malaysia Pahang AL-Sultan Abdullah among eight female students in a leadership program, the Axiata Digital Leaders Programme (A.D.L.P.) for Girls 2024, organized by the Axiata Foundation. The program involved the participation of 72 female students from 9 public universities, and the aim was to equip the youth with leadership and digital capabilities to thrive in the digital world.

The first two sessions and the introductory meeting took place virtually. The workshops introduced the topics we would cover in greater detail in the in-person training sessions. The Tenera Hotel in Bangi was the venue for the in-person meeting. On the first day of the physical session, Mr. Kamal Nawawi, Chief Executive Officer of the Axiata Foundation, gave an opening ceremony. Ms. Zahira Nizam, Programme Manager of the Axiata Young Talent Programme, gave a quick overview of the week's schedule.

Day 1 at A.D.L.P. was enlightening. Mr Jagmohan Singh emphasized the importance of prioritizing life goals and maintaining personal standards without seeking external validation. He highlighted the significance of a growth mindset for self-improvement. We learned the value of changing daily patterns and embracing new experiences for brain stimulation.

On the second day of A.D.L.P., we delved into design thinking and the creative mindset that Mr Lingesh Lechamanan shared. We realized the importance of transferable skills, which can be applied to areas we were passionate about.

On Day 3 and 4 of A.D.L.P., we have an exciting team building. In the evening, we gained valuable insights from the CADS AI team, including Mr. Muhammad Shahriel Hanifah, Mr. Syahryl Serkawini, and Ms. Rosini Murugesh. We explored Excel analytics in a beginner-friendly manner, learning about graph relationships and the art of choosing visuals, which has significantly boosted our confidence in Excel.

Day 5 was an exciting day as we visited the CelcomDigi Tower, which impressed us with its refreshing concept and pleasing interior design. Mr. Areehan Hj. Abdullah shared valuable insights about the S.A.F.E. principle in the digital era, emphasizing the importance of not oversharing and setting personal boundaries in our digital footprint. We also had the opportunity to visit the Axiata Cyberfusion Center and learn about their job scope. We were grateful to Mr. Aziph Mustapha for the enlightening collaboration and networking session. It opened our eyes to the importance of building connections and networking for personal and career growth.

Day 6 was a testament to our dedication as we hustled to harness the full spectrum of skills learned. Our capstone project was not just an assignment; it was a catalyst that refined our expertise in Excel and PowerBi under the crunch of time.

On the last day, we presented our projects and were enriched by insightful feedback. We closed the chapter with a graduation ceremony that was more than a formality—it was a celebration of our growth and the promise of our potential as digital leaders.
