Academic Collaboration Visit: Statistics Department and Actuarial Department, ITS, Surabaya, Indonesia to the Centre for Mathematical Sciences, UMPSA

On 16th July 2024, the Centre for Mathematical Sciences (PSM), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) hosted and welcomed a delegation from the Statistics Department and Actuarial Department, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Surabaya, Indonesia. This academic collaboration visit aims to strengthen international ties and explore opportunities between the two institutions.
 
The ITS delegation was warmly welcomed by Professor Ir. Ts. Dr. Ahmad Ziad Sulaiman, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International Affairs), UMPSA together with the representatives of Centre for Mathematical Sciences (PSM) and Centre for International Relations (CIR).

 The visit discussed the extension of the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and to explore potential collaborations in academic activities, particularly on lecturer and student exchange programs. This initiative aligns with UMPSA's internationalization agenda, which encourages bilateral cooperation to enhance the university's academic quality and global branding thus, enhancing the university's visibility on the international stage.

Previously, PSM has engaged in various student exchange programs with several international institutions, including Hebei University in China, Kansai University in Japan, and Telkom University in Indonesia. This academic collaboration visit is expected to provide more exposure to PSM's programmes, particularly the Bachelor of Applied Science in Data Analytics with Honours and facilitate knowledge sharing in the implementation of data analytics and data science programmes. The visit is expected to further strengthen the synergistic relationship between UMPSA and ITS, paving the way for more potential future collaborations.
