The International Mathematical Olympiad National Selection Test (IMONST) Malaysia Training at MRSM Tun Abdul Razak, Pekan by the UMP Mathematical Olympiad Trainer team

IMO National Selection Test (IMONST) is a national-level mathematics competition with the objective to cultivate mathematical problem-solving skills among Malaysian students, and to challenge the top mathematical talents in the country. IMONST is organized by the Malaysia IMO Committee and approved by the Ministry of Education as the selection process for the Malaysian team for the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2021.
The UMP Mathematical Olympiad Trainer team under Centre for Mathematical Sciences, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Sham bin Mohamad, Dr. Adam Shariff bin Adli Aminuddin, Dr. Norazaliza binti Mohd Jamil and Miss Nur Zahirah binti Md Noor trained 32 students from MRSM Tun Abdul Razak, Pekan. for the preparation of IMONST which will be held on 5 September 2020. Prior to the competition, three training sessions was held on 25 August, 27 August and 1 September 2020.
In this training, several sets of IMONST question was discussed according to the topic of number theory, combinatoric, algebra and geometry. On the last phase of training, a mock test has been done and all students show significant improvement in their ability and speed in solving the question. The UMP Mathematical Olympiad Trainer team hope that the students can achieve success in the actual IMONST competition. The results will be updated once it is released.
