PSM–UNITELKOM Strengthen Academic and Research Collaboration at UMPSA

Pekan, 15 October 2025 – The Centre for Mathematical Sciences (PSM), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), hosted a collaborative meeting with delegates from Universitas Telkom (UNITELKOM), Indonesia, to explore future cooperation in academic programmes, research initiatives, and institutional partnerships. The meeting took place at the Bilik Mesyuarat Al-Nawawi, Faculty of Computing, UMPSA, from 3.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m.

The UNITELKOM delegation was led by Dr. Hilal H. Nuha, Head of the CITI Research Group and Chair of the International Collaboration Task Force, accompanied by Dr. Rahmat Yasirandi (Director, CAATIS), Dr. Muhamad Irsan (Member, International Collaboration Task Force), and Mr. Hassan Putra (Member, CITI Research Group).

Representing UMPSA’s Centre for Mathematical Sciences (PSM) were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Sham bin Mohamad (Dean), Dr. Ku Muhammad Na’im bin Ku Khalif (Deputy Dean, Research & Postgraduate Studies), Dr. Norhafizah binti Md Sarif (Academic & International), Dr. Azlyna binti Senawi (Head of Programme, Postgraduate), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zulkhibri bin Ismail @ Mustofa, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman Mohd Kasim.

The meeting aimed to strengthen institutional collaboration through:

  • Joint development of academic programmes and staff/student mobility initiatives;
  • Collaborative research and publication efforts between PSM and UNITELKOM; and
  • Co-supervision of postgraduate students and innovation-oriented partnerships.

In his welcoming remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Sham bin Mohamad highlighted that this collaboration underscores UMPSA’s strategic aspiration to enhance international engagement and academic distinction through partnerships with reputable ASEAN institutions.

“This engagement not only strengthens our research visibility but also creates new avenues for staff and students to collaborate on impactful, innovation-driven projects across borders,” he said.

The session concluded with both parties expressing mutual interest in formalizing a framework for long-term cooperation, encompassing academic exchanges, joint research proposals, and shared capacity-building programmes between PSM–UMPSA and UNITELKOM.

This meeting marks a significant step toward fostering Malaysia–Indonesia academic synergy and advancing the shared vision of both institutions in promoting excellence in mathematics, science, computing, and technology education.
