A total of 37 students from the Foundation of Science and Technology (AST), Centre for Mathematical Sciences (PSM), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), organized a program called "Perwira Untuk Ibu Pertiwi" at Sekolah Kebangsaan Pandan, Kuantan, on September 9, 2023. A total of 100 students, comprising Standard 5 and 6 students, as well as teachers from Sekolah Kebangsaan Pandan, along with their parents, actively participated in the program.
The program was organized by AST students as an effort to apply and practice the knowledge and soft skills they learned in the Talent Management (UQF1012) subject. It was also intended to foster unity among the educational staff and promote the role of society and the community in shaping the personality of the students.
In addition, the program was infused with "gotong-royong" Madani 2023, which is the mandate of the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, for all schools under the Ministry of Education Malaysia. Activities such as painting, drain cleaning, disposal of school assets, repair and maintenance, and planting of plants were carried out simultaneously to clean and improve the school's image.
During this program, participants had the opportunity to explore new knowledge about traditional Malay culture and clothing. AST students served as facilitators and provided guidance on how to wear the "tanjak" for men and the sash for women. At the end of the program, students also had the opportunity to showcase their "tanjak" and sash creations in a creative video.
A significant step in strengthening the collaborative relationship between the Centre for Mathematical Sciences (PSM), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), and Sekolah Kebangsaan Pandan was marked by a signing ceremony. The Centre for Mathematical Sciences (PSM), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), was represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman Mohd Kasim, who is the Head of the Science and Technology Foundation Programme.
The program also included a motivational session presented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman Mohd Kasim. These motivational sessions were delivered in a relaxed atmosphere, exposing students to effective learning techniques and directions. Pn. Siti Sara Binti Mohamed Hamdan, Headmaster of Sekolah Kebangsaan Pandan, was present to support the students. Also present was Pn. Haslinda Binti Hashim, a lecturer of Talent Management (UQF1012).
