The Applied & Industrial Mathematics and Statistics (AIMs) Research Cluster, Centre for Mathematical Sciences (CMS) has organized the 4th Monthly Mathematical Colloquium (MMC) 2021 on Friday, 9th April 2021. As in the previous session, this event is exclusively brought online via the Google Meet platform.
In the 1st slot session, Ms Syafiqah Hanis Mohd Fauzi, a Master by Research student, supervised by Dr Norazaliza Mohd Jamil has shared her research entitled Modified Mathematical Model for Oxidation Pond. This study emphasizes the ability of a mathematical model developed incorporating the Monod equation to facilitate the process of a wastewater treatment system using an oxidation pond. Model solved using the 4th order Runge Kutta method provided information regarding the relationship between the concentration of bacteria which are phototrophic and coliform, chemical oxygen demand (COD), and dissolved oxygen (DO).
The 2nd slot session is the Library Information Literacy Skills shared by Mrs Affida Abu Bakar, the Senior Librarian from UMP Library. Mrs Affida has presented five searching platform offered by the UMP Library which are Off-Campus Access (EzProxy), the Library Catalogue (eFind), the UMP Institutional Repository (UMP-IR), the UMP Library Electronic Collections (eCOILIB) and the UMP Library E-Book Collection (eLib). This is the platform for the lecturers and students to access online materials like the article, e-journal, e-books and past year exam collection, the printed book, the UMP publication and the UMP thesis.
