On January 24, 2025, PSM UMPSA held its first Monthly Mathematical Colloquium (MMC) of the year. The event took place virtually on MS Teams and featured three postgraduate presenters who shared their research with the audience.
The first presenter, Nur Syahirah binti Zulkipli, a PhD candidate supervised by Dr. Siti Zanariah binti Satari, presented her work titled "Clustering-based procedures for identifying multiple outliers in univariate circular biological data." After her presentation, participants engaged in a Q&A session, offering valuable feedback and insights.

The second session was led by Nur Hidayah binti Azmidi, an MSc candidate under Assoc. Prof. Ts Dr Noryanti binti Muhammad. She presented her research titled "Predicting heart disease using hybrid metaheuristic-based training of echo state networks (ESNs)." This was followed by a Q&A session, where attendees shared their thoughts and suggestions.

The final presentation of the day was delivered by Amirah Hazwani binti Roslin, a PhD candidate also supervised by Assoc. Prof. Ts Dr Noryanti binti Muhammad. Her research, titled "Nonparametric predictive inference for object detection with copula," sparked an engaging discussion during the Q&A session, with participants exchanging ideas and feedback.

PSM UMPSA extends its appreciation to the presenters for their informative and well-prepared presentations. Gratitude is also extended to all attendees for their active participation, which contributed to the success of the event. We look forward to future sessions of the Monthly Mathematical Colloquium and thank everyone involved in making MMC 1/2025 a success.
