In conjunction with the 2023 National Science Week Carnival at the Pahang state level held at UMPSA Pekan, the Mathematical Science Center has organized the MathEnergy Cafe activity involving 35 students from Sekolah Kebangsaan Wira, Sekolah Kebangsaan Assunta Convent, Sekolah Rendah Ibnu Abbas and Kuantan Integrated Islamic School.
 
Everyone who cooks, from home cooks to world-renowned chefs, uses math in the kitchen! A chef's routine involves simple to complex mathematical calculations.

MathEnergy Cafe's objective is to highlight mathematics in cooking starting with the basics of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division along with ratios, products and percentages. Ingredients must be accurately measured and counted, food production quantities calculated, and recipes scaled up or down based on demand. Mathematics is used for portion control, to maintain consistency in production, and to count food. At the end of this activity, students can understand that mastering math leads to better results in the kitchen through accuracy and consistency.

Dr. Nor Alisa Damanhuri, as the activity director of MathEnergy Cafe, said, "It is important for children to hone their skills and connect efficiently in Mathematics in preparation for rapid technological changes and facilitate the transition from a human intensive industry to a knowledge intensive, based on science and technology. "

Hopefully the number of STEM students can be increased through this noble effort and can produce students who are innovative, can solve problems, and have high-level thinking skills.
