Industry Advisory Panel Strengthens the Direction of UMPSA Bachelor of Applied Science in Data Analytics with Honours Programme
On 14 August 2026, the Centre for Mathematical Sciences (Pusat Sains Matematik, PSM), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) conducted the Industry Advisory Panel (IAP) Meeting for the Bachelor of Applied Science in Data Analytics with Honours (BSD) Programme 2026 at Dewan Tun Fatimah, UMPSA Gambang.
The meeting was attended by two Industry Advisory Panel members, namely Mr. Wan Zarazillah bin Wan Abu Bakar, Head of Section, Business Advisory & Statistics Section, Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), and Mr. Nazri bin Ahmad Zamani, Specialist & Head of AI Unit, Cyber-Risk Intelligence, CyberSecurity Malaysia.


The IAP meeting serves as an important mechanism to ensure that the academic programme remains relevant to current and future industry developments. The meeting is conducted periodically to obtain industry views on programme relevance, the suitability of courses offered, teaching and learning approaches, as well as assessment methods. The meeting also supports continuous quality improvement initiatives and compliance requirements related to the BSD Programme.
The session began with an introduction to the Centre for Mathematical Sciences by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Sham bin Mohamad, Dean of PSM, followed by a presentation on the curriculum of the Bachelor of Applied Science in Data Analytics with Honours Programme by Dr. Adam Shariff bin Adli Aminuddin, Head of Department (Data Analytics). The meeting then continued with a curriculum review and discussion with the panel on programme structure, course content, teaching and assessment methods, and current as well as future industry needs.


Among the key areas discussed were continuous quality improvement of the programme, alignment of the curriculum with industry requirements, and feedback on facilities, software, teaching and learning resources that support effective programme delivery. The input from the industry representatives also provides valuable guidance in strengthening the competencies of BSD graduates and enhancing their readiness to meet the evolving demands of the workplace.
