Industrial Talk “Data Warehousing in Industry”

Pusat Sains Matematik (PSM) has successfully organized the Data Analytics Industrial Talk on 15th April 2022 through Microsoft Teams Online Platform. This industrial talk was held in conjunction with a session with an industry lecturer for the Data Warehousing course.
The title for the talk is 'Data Warehousing in Industry' and the speaker invited for this talk is the Chief Solutions Architect of Abyres Enterprise Technologies Sdn Bhd, Mr Mohd Izhar Firdaus bin Ismail, whom was keen to share his knowledge and with 7 years’ experience in designing and building data management and processing pipeline and optimization of query and infrastructure on top of various Open Source databases.
In this valuable session, Mr. Mohd Izhar shared about work cycle in data engineering which involved data extraction from data sources, data ingestion, data storage, integration and processing, data serving (data marts), data service and finally users.
Data integration and processing as well as data serving (Data Mart, OLAP Model PostgreSQL) has been mentioned in data warehousing class. The speaker also briefly explained the components needed to build data warehouse such as database/datastore like PostgreSQL, MySQL and ELT/ETL by using Python, Spark and Java.
In short, such an insightful sharing and eye-opening experience to the audience. May all the attendees have benefited from the talk.
