Centre for Mathematical Sciences (CMS) UMP has organised the Industrial Talk Master of Science (Industrial Mathematics) entitled Application of Mathematics in Mechanical Integrity: Risk Based Inspection.
Speaker of this sharing session is Ir. Unazie Iskandar Abdul Razak an RBI expert that has 17 years of experience in oil, gas and petrochemical industry in design and operations, mainly related to Asset Integrity, Risk Based Inspection (RBI), Fitness for Service (FFS), Materials and Corrosion Study, Process Safety and Risk, and Project Management.
In this session, the importance of mathematics in risk assessment has been highlighted and the RBI methodology (API 581) which include probability of failure (PoF), consequences of failure (CoF), risk assessment and mitigation plan have been addressed.
Participants are not limited to CMS staff and students, but also delegates from other faculties, Petronas, BASF and KANEKA. Industrial sharing knowledge is part of the Master of Science (Industrial Mathematics) program where the students can gain direct exposure from industrial expert regarding the application of mathematics in industry. This is the precious moment where the participants can interact with the expert and digging knowledge regarding mathematics in industries.
