Industrial Talk "An Overview of The Process of Statistical Modelling from the Lens of Industrial Practices"

Centre for Mathematical Sciences (PSM UMP) has held a Data Analytics Industrial Talk on 14 December 2021 entitled “An Overview of The Process of Statistical Modelling from The Lens of Industrial Practices” by Dr. Zairul Nor Deana Md. Desa, E-Commerce Analyst, Montblanc Simplo GmbH (Luxury Goods), German.

Dr. Zairul has an experienced as data scientist, business analyst and statistician with a demonstrated experience of working in business predictive analytics, response architecture and measurement in scalable environment (e.g., supply chain and merchandising planning, retail and online customer segmentations, and sales convergences). Besides that, she also has a decade of operational hands on in analytics and its applications to optimise business metrices. She used to work at a few international industries such as Tom Tailor GmbH (Fashion), British American Tobacco (BAT), and International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA). She has a strong professional qualification with a PhD in Research, Evaluation, Measurement and Statistics from The University of Kansas (KU) USA, and a M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Mathematics/Statistics from the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Johor Bahru Johor.
 
In this session, the process of statistical modelling has been exposed to the students based on the industry practice at the international level. The importance of modelling in industries has been highlighted and discussed. Through this session, participants were also exposed to the preparation before entering workforce especially for those who interested to be an industry practitioner and tips on how to build up good career.
