Global Classroom: BSD2143 Operational Research with Lecturers from Department of Statistics, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Indonesia

On 25 May and 4 June 2026, a Global Classroom for the course BSD2143 Operational Research was successfully conducted between the Centre for Mathematical Sciences (Pusat Sains Matematik, PSM), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) and the Department of Statistics, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Indonesia, via Zoom. At UMPSA, this initiative is known as the Global Classroom, while at ITS it is known as Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL). It was carried out as a two way international joint lecture, where lecturers from both universities took turns to deliver lectures to the students of the partner university.

The first session was held on 25 May 2026, from 2.30 pm to 5.00 pm (Malaysia time) or 1.30 pm to 4.00 pm (Indonesia time). The topic of Project Network Analysis was delivered by Dr. Adam Shariff bin Adli Aminuddin from PSM UMPSA to around 25 students of ITS. The second session was held on 4 June 2026, from 10.00 am to 12.00 pm (Malaysia time) or 9.00 am to 11.00 am (Indonesia time). The topic of Queuing Theory was delivered to around 58 students of UMPSA by Dr. Irhamah, M.Si. from ITS. The session was moderated by Dr. Tay Chai Jian and  Dr. Adam Shariff bin Adli Aminuddin from PSM UMPSA.

We hope that this two way joint lecture has enriched the learning experience of the students across borders, and we look forward for more future collaboration between PSM UMPSA and the Department of Statistics, ITS.
