Foundation in Science and Technology Programme Meeting 2023
A foundation in science and technology programme meeting was held on December 27 - 28, 2023. It serves as a platform where the panel discuss about the curriculum structure, duration of studies and entry requirements for current and future programme in foundation studies. The meeting consist of Study Committee (SC) and External Accessor (EA) panels that include experts from both academic and industries. The list of panel are as follow
- Prof Dr Anuar bin Mohd Ishak (Department of Mathematical Sciences, Faculty of Science & Technology, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia)
- Prof Ts Dr Norhana binti Abdul Halim (Director, Centre for Defence Foundation Studies, Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia)
- Assoc Prof Dr Laili binti Hj Che Ros (Director, STEM Foundation Centre, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu)
- En Mohammad Syukur bin Md Noh (Director of Product Operations B Braun Medical Industries Sdn Bhd)
- En Abdullah Zawawi bin Mohamed (Vice President, Head of Robotics and Product Development Sime Darby Plantation)
The meeting started with welcoming speech from Dr Ahmad Johari bin Mohamad who is currently serve as acting CEO of UMP Advance. Then, the Dean of Centre for Mathematical Sciences UMPSA Prof Dr Mohd Zuki bin Salleh introduced the background of UMPSA and the centre. The meeting continued with a briefing from Head of Programme (Foundation in Science and Technology) Assoc Prof Dr Abdul Rahman bin Mohd Kasim on the program background. It is then followed by Q&A session between the committee and panels for further understanding on the program.
The panel went through the documents provided by the committee and provide feedback and suggestion to improve the quality of programme offered in the future. We hope the feedbacks and suggestions provided by the panels can be considered by the management at UMPSA to further improve this programme.
