Congratulations on completing HRDF course 2021
Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) is an organisation under the purview of the Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia formed with a purpose to catalyse the development of competent local workforce that will contribute to Malaysia’s vision of becoming a high-income economy. Funded by HRDF, a number of staff at the Centre for Mathematical Sciences have successfully joined and completed the courses offered by the body to enhance their skills and competency.
Dr Aida has successfully attended an online course, Visual Basic Application (VBA) for Excel Training by Tertiary Infotech Sdn Bhd on 19 September 2021. She learned about object-oriented programming, how to automate routine tasks and provide custom functionality to enhance Excel performance and efficiency. This course introduces the Visual Basic for Applications programming language that covers creating subroutines and functions to hold code. This course has been beneficial to enhance her expertise, ability and knowledge for postgraduate teaching and research purposes.
Dr Nadirah has successfully attended an online course, NumPy and SciPy Essential Training by Tertiary Infotech Sdn Bhd on 10 October 2021. She learned the basics of NumPy and SciPy, basic of Mathplotlib, given the exposures to packages in SciPy which include linear algebra, optimisation, statistics dan signal processing. The knowledge she gained from the course will be shared with her Master students who enrol for the Advanced Numerical Analysis and Programming & Simulation course.
Dr Azuana has successfully attended an online course, Data Engineering on Microsoft Azure by Iverson Associates Sdn Bhd from 11 to 14 October 2021. She learned how to use Microsoft Azure services such as Azure Synapse Analytics and Azure Databricks. Besides that, she also acquired the knowledge on data engineering patterns, the core compute and storage technologies that are used to build an analytical solution, how to design an analytical serving layer and focus on data engineering considerations for working with source files. In addition, she also learned how to interactively explore data stored in files in a data lake, and the various ingestion techniques that can be used to load data. This course helps to enhance her understanding on Data Warehousing and Data Engineering so that the knowledge can be shared with her students and colleagues.
Dr Norhafizah has successfully attended an online course, Octave Essential Training by Tertiary Infotech Sdn Bhd on 17 October 2021. She learned about Matlab using Octave. Octave is a high-level interpreted language that is almost an exact duplicate of Matlab. Octave provides capabilities for the numerical solution of linear and nonlinear problems, and for performing other numerical experiments. It also supports extensive graphics capabilities for data visualisation and manipulation. This course is worthwhile at improving her programming skills.
